My love for this extraordinary breed began when I was 20, but at the time, owning one felt out of reach. Years later, at 42, while working as a nurse for children with special needs i finally welcomed my first Rhodesian Ridgeback into my life - Trinton’s Majestic Mary. She came from a lineage of championship show dogs and was a special Christmas gift for my son, Trinton. He named her Mary after Mother Mary and, in his childlike innocence, imagined that when she had her first puppy, he would name him Jesus. This sweet sentiment brought a smile to our faces, and I gently suggested Judah, instead. In the Bible, the Tribe of Judah is symbolized by a lion’s head - a fitting connection, as Rhodesian Ridgebacks were bred to track and pursue lions. Just as these dogs are known for their determination and unwavering spirit, our own journey is one of pursuit - seeking Christ in all that we do. The symbolism was too perfect to ignore. I vowed that Mary would be bred with only the best, and that her first born son would be named Judah - a tribute to both our faith and the incredible legacy of the breed.
At Mufasa Finn Ridgeback Farms, we specialize in breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks with the temperament, intelligence, and trainability suited for service work. While Ridgebacks are not commonly seen as service dogs, the possess remarkable problem-solving abilities, a keen sense of smell, and an unbreakable bond with their families— traits that make them highly capable in-service roles. Each of our puppies undergoes rigorous temperament testing, ensuring that those best suited for service work receive the proper training. Not every puppy will meet the requirements for this role, and for those that don’t, we place them in loving homes as loyal companions.
